8/16/11 > Important changes to Cross Plains ISD Traffic Procedures

As the new school year approaches, the administration of Cross Plains ISD would like to share information with the public about the procedures for dropping off and picking up students when school starts on August 23.

In an effort to provide a safer environment for all students and staff, the drop-off points and procedures are as follows:

  • If you bring your student to school, the only area for dropping them off is in front of the school on Main Street.
  • Upon arrival to school, elementary students will go to the cafeteria and high school students will go to the area between the office and library.
  • The parking lot behind the cafeteria/auditorium area will become a one-way traffic area for busses.
  • All vehicular traffic is to enter behind the auditorium (north end of the complex) and will exit between the Ag barn and gym.
  • ALL traffic will move from north to south only.

The administration of Cross Plains ISD appreciates your acceptance and support of these procedures as we believe it will help to create a safer environment for all students.

8/16/11 > Important Bus Route Information

The bus routes for Cross Plains ISD have been changed for the 2011-2012 school year. There is no 'in-town' route this year. Students who live within the city limits of Cross Plains will have 2 places available to be picked up: Super S/Lowes grocery store or the American Legion Hall. The bus will arrive between 7:25-7:35 am for morning pick-up and transportation to school. In the afternoon, in-town students will be dropped off at the same location between 4:25 pm and 4:40 pm. Students will need to be at their location by 7:25 am in order to be transported to school. Parents will need to be at the location in the afternoon between 4:25-4:40 pm to pick their student up. These stops are offered as a courtesy for students who live in town. All other routes will run the same as last year. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with the new routes.

8/30/10 > Cross Plains ISD Reports Highly Qualified Teachers

The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) requires that all core subject area teachers meet highly qualified (HQ) teacher requirements. Each district is required to publicly report the percentage of teachers meeting this status. Cross Plains ISD reports that, for the 2010-2011 school year, 100% of the core academic teachers in the district meet this federal requirement. Cross Plains ISD also reports that 100% of the district's instructional aides meet the HQ requirements. Cross Plains ISD has a commitment to recruit, hire and retain highly qualified teachers for every classroom in the district. For those teachers who do not meet the "highly qualified" status when hired, the district will work with the teacher and the certification entity in order to reach 100% HQ status. For more detailed information regarding the federal highly qualified teacher requirements, you may go to the internet at: http://www.tea.state.tx.us/nclb/hqteachers.html, or contact the school office at 254-725-6121. The TEA Highly Qualified Summary Report can also be found under the Required Postings section of the Document Manager on our district website.
